Information for schools

How Pathlyra handles school data.

This page describes the current product and its controls. It is an operational overview, not a complete privacy policy or a school data-processing agreement.

Who runs Pathlyra?

Pathlyra is a personal project developed and maintained by Muhammad Ali Javed.

Use the existing school-enquiry contact options to discuss data handling. Please do not send student records through the public enquiry form.

What information does the portal hold?

Schools can enter account and contact details, student profiles, subjects and grades, university applications, documents, recommendations, counselling records and tasks. The records held depend on the features the school uses and the information it supplies.

Where is it hosted?

The current deployment uses Render for the website and school portal, with PostgreSQL for structured records and server storage for uploaded files.

The deployment region and a published backup-retention schedule have not yet been confirmed for this page. Schools should obtain those details directly before deciding whether the service meets their requirements.

Who can access school records?

Access is checked by school and role. Separately, the project maintainer administers the hosting and database infrastructure; this page does not claim that infrastructure administrators cannot access stored data.

How can schools export data?

Authorised staff can use the CSV export controls available in reports and grading, and download documents they are permitted to access. These are feature-specific exports; a single complete-school export is not currently provided as one button. Discuss any additional handover needs with the project maintainer.

How can records be deleted?

Counsellors and administrators have permanent-deletion controls for supported records, including student and teacher accounts. The portal previews affected records and requires confirmation. Shared dependencies may need to be resolved first.

Deactivating an account is different from deleting it. Permanent deletion has no in-app undo. Associated file cleanup can remain pending until processed. Deletion does not erase provider backups, copies already downloaded or messages already delivered through Telegram. A backup-retention schedule and a full-school deletion procedure need to be agreed directly.

Students should contact their school counsellor or administrator about access, corrections or deletion.

Public enquiries and optional services

Where configured, the demo enquiry form is supplied by Google Forms and loads when opened. Email and WhatsApp links use those services. The public enquiry form should be used for school contact details and general questions, not confidential student information.

The portal also offers an optional Telegram connection. Using it can send account-linked notifications or requested information through Telegram. Schools should review which services they enable and explain them to users.

Before school setup, confirm the operator/contact arrangements, hosting region, retention and backup terms, and any required data-processing agreement directly with Pathlyra. No security certification or legal-compliance certification is claimed here.
